Guide

An online invitation for a wedding or party: what to include so guests can RSVP without asking anything

A good digital invitation ends the "wait, what time does it start?" question. Think about what a guest will look for on their phone the night before, and put it in the order they need.

Date and time first, in large type

Before any photo of the couple, guests need the day, the hour and whether the ceremony starts on time. Use the Text tool for it and keep it plain: "Saturday, March 14, at 5 pm". The Address with map comes right below, because it is the second question and people driving want directions in one tap. If the ceremony and the party are in different places, add both.

The schedule prevents last-minute messages

A short List clears up many doubts: reception, ceremony, dinner, time to dance, with the time of each moment. Include whatever affects choosing an outfit or transport, such as dress code, parking and whether children are welcome. For an outdoor wedding, warn about shoes and a jacket. This saves dozens of chats on the hosts' WhatsApp.

The RSVP that organizes your guest list

Build the Form with few questions: name, coming or not, how many people, dietary needs and a message. The answers reach Configure and you see who confirmed without cross-checking conversations. If the invitation is only for the people named, make that clear in the text. Ask for the reply by a certain date, because the caterer will ask too.

Gifts and messages, gently

The gift list can go in a List or in a Link to the chosen store, with a kind line such as "Your presence is the best gift". For birthdays and baby showers, swap the couple's story for a gallery of the child's photos or the theme. The tone of the text counts as much as the look: write the way you talk to your guests.

Best practices

Best practices for a wedding and party invitation mini site

A digital invitation has a short life cycle and three moments: before, when guests RSVP; the day before, when they look for the start time, route and dress code; and after, with photos and thanks.

First what guests look up on their phone the day before

Whoever opens the invitation hours earlier wants four things: day, time, place and how to get there.

  • Title: “Ana & Pedro · Let's celebrate”
  • Text: “Saturday, March 14, at 5 pm. The ceremony starts on time.”
  • Bio (up to 160 characters): “Ana & Pedro marry on 3/14. See time and place, and RSVP by 2/15.”

Countdown and the day's schedule

The Countdown to the ceremony start sets a rhythm and reminds guests of the date.

  • 4:30 pm: guests arrive
  • 5 pm: ceremony
  • 6:30 pm: reception and cocktails
  • 8 pm: dinner
  • 10 pm: party and live music

RSVP as a short Form

The Form takes up to 20 fields, but 5 to 7 are enough for an RSVP.

  • Your full name (short text, required)
  • Are you coming? (single choice: yes, no)
  • How many guests with you? (number)
  • Names of your guests (long text)
  • Dietary restrictions (multiple choice: vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, allergy)
  • A message for us (long text)

Who was invited: plus-ones, children and limits

The most common mistake is a guest replying “plus 3” when that was not planned. Write right above the form: “Invitation for two” or “Single invitation”, and whether children are welcome.

Gifts, group funds and Link

minisitee does not process payments. For a gift registry, use the Link button to the chosen store or online list, with a kind sentence.

Dress code, weather and practical tips in a List

A List with check marks and details settles dozens of questions: dress code (formal, smart casual, anything goes), colors to avoid at a wedding, shoes for grass or sand, a jacket if the place is outdoors, parking or valet, shuttle departure time, accessibility and whether there is room for children.

  • Dress code: smart casual
  • Outdoor venue: bring a light jacket and comfortable shoes
  • Parking: 40 spaces, with valet
  • Children: welcome until 9 pm

Sharing, privacy and after the event

The invitation is shared by link, at minisitee.com/yourname, and by QR code, which you can print on the paper invitation. Remember that anyone with the link sees everything: do not publish your home address if the party is at home; use a meeting point.
