Guide

Café and bakery: what to show on your mini site and how to take cake orders

A walk-in customer decides by smell; a phone customer decides by photo. Your mini site has to do the smell's job: show what is coming out of the oven and when to come.

The counter as cards, from breakfast to afternoon snack

Build one card for each counter group in the Product or service tool: coffees, breads, savory pastries and croissants, cakes and sweets. The ideal photo is the display case or a fresh batch, in natural light. In the description, add ingredients and size: “Cheese bread, portion of 6”. Price is optional but helpful. Put your Hours somewhere obvious, because the most repeated question a bakery gets is “what time do you open?”.

A cake order is a form, not a loose conversation

Custom cakes and tarts are hard exactly because the details arrive in pieces: date, size, filling, message on top, pickup or delivery. Create a Form with those questions, one per field, and use a short List to explain the flow: choose the cake, agree on the day, pick up or receive. Answers arrive organized in Configure. State the minimum notice in the FAQ so nobody asks for the same day.

Photos of the space, and dates that deserve a notice

People choosing a café for a meetup look at the place. Use the Gallery with 4 to 6 photos: counter, corner table, a cup by the window. Around holidays like Easter and Christmas, the Countdown tells people until when you accept orders. Round it off with the Address with map and the link to leave a Google review. The WhatsApp button stays for same-day orders or a quick question.

Best practices

Best practices for a cafe and bakery mini site

Bakeries and cafes sell early in the morning, in batches, and also take cake orders days in advance.

The bread name the customer recognizes

French roll, baguette roll and bread roll can be the same product in different regions.

  • Title: “Drip coffee”; description: “brewed to order, arabica beans”
  • Title: “Sourdough bread”; description: “24 to 48 hour fermentation”
  • Grams or count in the short note: “6 pieces” or “500 g”
  • Allergens listed: milk, eggs, gluten

Counter cards in four groups with natural light photos

Build a card for each group on the counter: Coffees, Breads, Savory and croissants, Cakes and sweets.

  • Coffees: espresso, cappuccino, drip, iced
  • Breads: French roll, whole wheat, sourdough
  • Savory: cheese bread, croissant, empanada
  • Cakes: by the slice and whole, with weight or slice count

Batches and hours: the question that repeats most

The daily question is “when do you open?” and right after, “is the bread out yet?”.

  • 1st WhatsApp button: “Hi! I want to order. What’s fresh today?”
  • 2nd Hours, open at 6:30 am on weekdays
  • 3rd Breads card or the batch List
  • Bio: “Sourdough bread, specialty coffee and cakes to order. Open 6:30 am to 7 pm.”

Cake orders by form, with the lead time written down

Cake orders arrive in pieces: date, size, batter, filling, frosting, message and pickup.

  • For which day? (date, required)
  • Size (single: 10, 20 or 30 slices)
  • Batter and filling (single, one list of flavors)
  • Message on the cake (short text, up to 200 characters)
  • Pickup or delivery (single) and notes (long text)

Scheduled pickup with the Booking calendar

For those picking up an order, Booking avoids the queue and a cake waiting on the counter.

  • Booking calendar of 15 min, 24 h notice, 30 days ahead
  • On Pro, you get an email for each pickup request
  • Customers see only free slots

Dates that change the counter: Easter, Christmas, harvest festivals

Cafes and bakeries live on dates: Easter eggs and panettone have order deadlines and sell out, and the year end changes your hours.

  • Countdown: “Christmas orders until Dec 18”
  • Seasonal card with photos and weight
  • Holiday hours updated the day before

Atmosphere, Wi-Fi and people working at the table

Someone choosing a cafe to work or to meet a friend looks at the place first.

  • 3 column Gallery with 6 photos
  • Highlights: Wi-Fi, outlets, quiet in the afternoon
  • Question: “Can I stay and work?”
  • Google review with the call “Enjoyed it? Rate us”
